Class description:

Corinne’s instruction will be covering the basics of ballet, emphasizing proper alignment. Explaining simply what to strive for in building a clean precise technique. In simple , yet effective combinations students will naturally feel the strength of their core. This allows them a feeling of freedom when adding port de bras and epaulment. Musicality is introduced through steps using accents ,that allows the students to hear , more clearly, the nuisance in the music. Corinne’s classes include some fun “ brain “ challenging combinations This improves focus and keeps one light on their feet, ready for unexpected change in direction and or body weight. Finally , lots of loose stretching to feel very expansive, to enjoy moving largely through space.

She continued her training at the School of American Ballet (SAB), on a full scholarship. She also studied, on scholarship, at Harkness House with David Howard. Corinne’s professional career includes Kansas City Ballet as principal dancer, performing Balanchine, Bolender, Ailey and Robbins’ works, to name a few. As a soloist with the Deutsche Opera in Berlin, Germany, she had the opportunity to perform the classics of ballet as well as the works of European choreographers. With the Armitage Ballet, she performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s “Next Wave” festival as well as seasons at the Joyce Theater in New York City, touring Europe extensively and performing in Brazil and Japan. Corinne has been teaching ballet, jazz, yoga, musical theater and senior stretch and strength for the past twenty years. She emphasizes a clean, strong technique, a sense of musicality and fun in her classes. Her students have gone on to dance professionally and to open their own dance schools.
